Fatal police shooting in North York
A Toronto police officer shot and killed a man Saturday afternoon near Wilson Avenue and King High Avenue, close to Wilson subway station. Police were responding to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically when the confrontation occurred. Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Canada-U.S. trade talks collapse
Canada and the U.S. failed to reach a trade agreement Friday night, after last-minute negotiations broke down.
Beginning Saturday, the U.S. imposed 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion worth of Canadian goods, affecting products including dairy, wine, furniture, hockey equipment, paper products and electronics. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada will respond with dollar-for-dollar tariffs beginning September 8, targeting American steel, electronics, appliances, agricultural equipment and other products.
The collapse represents a major deterioration in the Canada-U.S. economic relationship, with particular significance for Ontario's manufacturing sector.

Unifor and GM reach tentative deal
Unifor and General Motors reached tentative agreements Saturday, covering approximately 4,600 GM workers in Ontario, including workers at Oshawa Assembly and other facilities.

CNE opens amid packed Toronto weekend

TTC preparing for massive crowds
